ALL IN: Cops Destroy Gambling Gang Hidden In The Woods And Arrest 13

Desperate gamblers who set up a casino in the middle of a Chinese forest in a remote region have been busted in a raid by cops that saw 13 people arrested.

Gambling in China is illegal under local law, after it was outlawed when the Communist Party took power in 1949.

Since then, any gambling by Chinese citizens, including online gambling and even gambling overseas, as well as opening casinos, is illegal, although there are some exceptions, such as legal gambling centres in the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

The latest raid was carried out when police obtained clues that a man named Chen Mou was recruiting people for gambling in the city of Mangshi, in the Chinese province of Yunnan, on 9th March.

After a surveillance operation, a raid by the police was conducted on 29th March.

Based on the arrests, the police received information that more people were involved in the illegal gambling network, and that Mou was frequenting other locations in the urban area before heading into the forest.

As the police went after a suspicious vehicle that was heading into the forest, the officers first found two guards, whom they arrested.

They both admitted they were guarding the place, as the others were gambling in the forest.

As the police went further in, they found two more guards hiding behind a car, who also admitted to guarding the place.

The case is ongoing.
