Brit Woman Who Stabbed Abusive Boxer Boyfriend Dead Cleared Of Murder But Found Guilty Of Manslaughter

A Staffordshire woman on trial for fatally stabbing her abusive boxer boyfriend has been cleared of murder, but she has been found guilty of manslaughter by a jury of her peers.

Footage shows the moment police officers inform the woman that she is being arrested, at the time for attempted murder.

Kayley Susan Mahood, 30, of Rosliston Road, in the suburban village of Stapenhill, in the market town of Burton upon Trent, in Staffordshire, in the UK, was convicted of the manslaughter of 31-year-old Oliver O’Toole in their home following a trial at Stafford Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday, 25th January).

The defendant claimed that her boyfriend, a professional boxer, had been abusive towards her and hit her in the face during an argument, which led to the fatal stabbing.

Staffordshire Police said in a statement obtained by Newsflash that the victim died at the scene.

They said: “Police were called to Rosliston Road, just after midday on 25 July 2021 to reports that a man had been stabbed in the left side of his chest. Tragically, despite the best efforts of paramedics, Oliver died at the scene.”

Staffordshire Police also said that they found the weapon used to commit the crime in the kitchen.

They said: “Mahood was arrested at the scene and a knife was found in the kitchen.”

Detective Chief Inspector Dan Ison, of the force’s Major Investigations Department, is quoted as saying in the statement: “Mahood’s actions have destroyed the lives of Oliver’s family and friends. There are no words or verdict which will bring Oliver back. I would like to thank his family who have shown immense strength and courage throughout.”

Mahood is due to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court tomorrow (Thursday, 27th January).
