This is the moment a schoolboy came face to face with the painful truth about riding bikes without brakes.
CCTV footage of the lad’s spectacular crash shows the boy thundering along at the foot of the hill onto another road in Caycuma, Zonguldak province, Turkey.
But as he picks up speed, the boy cannot seem to slow down in time to stop hitting a kerb right in front of him.
As the front wheel hits it, the footage shows him sailing over the handlebars until he lands with a sickening crunch.
Then – as he hits the ground face first – his head slides into another kerb with horrified passers-by and shopkeepers running to his aid.
Police did not name the boy.
But local store owner Onur Taranci said he was astonished the boy escaped without any serious injury.
He told local media: “When we saw the accident we were really worried that he was going to survive.
“We feared the worst and we called emergency services. They took him to hospital but thankfully we then called the hospital and learnt that he was going to be okay and there were no serious consequences.”
Other traders said that the council should do more to prevent similar accidents on the slope which was constantly causing crashes.
