The cute scene was filmed at the girl’s family home in the city of Changzhi in the Chinese province of Shanxi, and the footage has been widely shared on the social network Douyin, also known as TikTok.

The girl, name not disclosed, was playing her stringed instrument, similar to a mandolin, when the cat started jerking its tail in time to the musical notes.

A family member reached for their camera and filmed the funny moment the cat grooved to the girl’s musical performance.

In the footage, the girl is seen sitting in a chair while practising her instrument while the family cat stands on an armchair with its back to the camera.

Every time the singing youngster hits a note on her instrument, the funky feline jerks its tail in time.

The curious cat appears to be looking at something on the bookshelf as it involuntarily jerks its behind to the music.

At the end of the video, the cameraperson is heard sniggering at the cat’s dance moves and the young girl cracks up laughing and stops playing.
