Out Of Control Vehicle Uses Zebra Crossing Sending Pedestrians Flying

This is the shocking moment an elderly woman loses control of her car and ends up speeding down a crowded pavement before barrelling across a zebra crossing, leaving three people injured.

The incident, that only ended when the car hit concrete bollards and a motorbike that was sent flying through the air, happened in Guangzhou, which is the capital city of the province of Guangdong in southern China.

Guangzhou Police confirmed that the incident happened in the city’s Huadu District on Yingbin Avenue when the 64-year-old driver, identified only by the surname Hao, suddenly shot across a busy intersection and instead of heading down the road on the other side – veered onto the pavement of a tree-lined avenue where pedestrians were sent leaping for their lives.

In total the 64-year-old woman hit three people, all of them suffered slight injuries despite the enormous speed of the car.

A second video shows the car coming from the pavement onto a pedestrian crossing were two round concrete bollards are sent flying across the street like cannonballs, and a motorbike that had pulled up seconds before is also hit and sent flying through the air.

In this second video people can be seen leaping for cover before the out of control vehicle strikes another car turning right and then finally comes to a stop.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and attended to the three people injured who were hospitalised but hospital officials said the injuries were not serious.

Police carried out a breath test of the elderly driver which confirmed she had not been drinking, and are investigating whether she suffered a medical emergency that caused her to press the accelerator, or whether she had simply confused the pedals.
