Police Rescue Crying Baby Locked In Car With Blanket Over Head As Parents Left To Watch Performance

Police officers have rescued this crying and struggling baby who was locked in a car with a blanket over her head after her parents allegedly left her alone to go and watch a performance.

The incident took place in Danzhai County, which is located in Qiandongnan Prefecture, in the south-eastern part of the Chinese province of Guizhou, in south-central China, on Sunday, 6th March 2022.

The police reportedly found the young baby, whose gender was not reported but who was found wearing pink clothing, alone in the car.

They confirmed that the baby, who has not been named, was crying and struggling with a blanket over her head, and that her parents had left to go and watch an unspecified performance.

The baby girl was initially spotted crying in the car by passers-by who reportedly waited for over half an hour for her parents to return and when they failed to show up, they stopped a passing Danzhai County traffic police car.

The police officers proceeded to rescue the baby, reportedly by opening the door to the car, which appears to be a white 4WD, thanks to a small gap in the window that was not fully closed.

In the footage, a police officer can be seen reaching into the car through the gap in the window with his right arm and unlocking it. The baby can be seen being removed from the car as the footage ends.

The police managed to identify the owner of the car, who has been named only as Mr Wang. The police told the father to return to the vehicle immediately, and the father, who said that his daughter had been sleeping when he and his wife left her to attend the performance, complied.

The baby is not thought to have come to any harm. It is currently unclear if the parents of the baby face any charges.
