This is the moment a clever pooch swims to the safety of a veterinary clinic after falling off its owner’s bike during a flood and being swept away.

The incident was filmed in the city of Hefei in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, and the footage has been widely shared on the social networks Douyin, also known as TikTok, and Weibo.

The poodle was riding with its owner on a bike when it reportedly fell off and was swept away by the floodwater.

However, the clever pooch apparently knew where the local vets was and made its way there.

In the footage, the dog is seen swimming past a semi-submerged motorbike on a flooded street.

The poodle then makes a turn and heads straight for the open doors of the veterinary clinic where several people are standing to welcome the damp canine into the dry.

The dog’s grateful owner was later tracked down and the pair were reunited, with a follow-up video being shared on social media.

In the clip, the owner, name not reported, is seen holding her poodle, now dry and fluffy, before heading outside with it to apparently explain what happened when they were briefly separated.
