Moment Firefighter Saves Single Woman Contemplating Suicide On Chinese Valentines Day

This is the moment a young woman is rescued from a high-rise ledge after her parents reportedly gave her a hard time over being single on Chinese Valentine’s Day.

The incident took place in the city of Xinyang in the Chinese province of Henan on 14th August, also known as the Qixi Festival, the Chinese equivalent of Valentine’s Day.

According to local media, the woman whose name and exact age were not given, sat on the ledge next to an air-conditioning unit 13 storeys from the ground after a row with her parents.

Her mother reportedly gave her a hard time about being unmarried at her maturing age and an argument ensued.

The young woman then sat on a 13th-floor ledge while apparently contemplating suicide.

In the end, firefighters lowered themselves from a window on the 14th floor to the ledge of the air-conditioning outdoor unit on the 13th floor and safely helped the young woman indoors.

In the footage, relatives are seen welcoming firefighters into their home to explain the situation.

One fireman drops down from the window and scares the woman, who was apparently lost in her thoughts at the time.

He then attaches a safety harness to her body and helps her up through the window and inside the apartment.
