A torture gang who beat and sexually abused a 19-year-old girl and forced her to brush her teeth with a toilet brush have all been given prison terms.

Ringleader Yulianna Bezuglaya, 24, and five friends kidnapped victim Natalya Parygina and filmed themselves torturing her for hours.

The sick six then posted their shocking abuse on social media after the attack in Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Russia, in October 2020.

A court heard how Bezuglaya initiated the torture because she saw Natalya as a love rival for a boy called Sasha.

Natalya said: “She said that I allegedly had something with her Sasha. And we had nothing.”

The footage caused outrage when it was widely seen across Russia, and it was quickly investigated by police.

Now Bezuglaya will spend the next 18 years in jail after a court found her guilty of kidnapping, torture, attempted sexual assault and robbery, threatening to kill, trafficking in pornographic materials, violating privacy, and involving minors in crimes.

Her accomplices also received sentences ranging from three and a half to four and a half years in penal or educational colonies.

All defendants may appeal their verdicts.

During the police investigation, it emerged that Bezuglaya had done the same to a 16-year-old girl just one week earlier.

She had physically attacked the teen before forcing her into her car and driving her to her flat, where she tortured her for hours.

She allegedly carried out the crime because the teen had “offended” her friend.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash on 2nd August, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation said: “With the participation of the public prosecutor of Birobidzhan Prosecutor’s Office, Ksenia Bondarchuk, the court examined a criminal case against a 24-year-old local resident, who was found guilty of kidnapping, torture, attempted sexual assault, robbery, threatening to kill, illegal circulation of pornographic materials, violation of privacy, and involvement of minors in the commission of crimes.

“The court also found a 20-year-old resident of the city of Birobidzhan guilty of sexual assault, torture, illegal trafficking in pornographic materials; a 21-year-old resident of the regional centre of commission of violent acts of a sexual nature and torture; and three residents of the city of Birobidzhan – minors at the time of the crimes – of committing violent acts of a sexual nature, torture and murder threats.

“Recall that a video – in which a woman humiliates a young girl and forces her to commit acts of a sexual nature, using physical force – was circulated on messenger apps and social networks. She filmed what was happening on a mobile phone camera and subsequently distributed the video on a messenger app.

“The investigation and the court established that on 14th October, 2020, a 24-year-old resident of Smidovichi district – while in the courtyard of a house on Meliorativnaya Street in the city of Birobidzhan, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, and out of jealousy for her boyfriend – beat a 16-year-old resident of the city, then pushed her into a car, where she kept her all the way to a house on Bumagina Street.

“Having gone up to the apartment, the defendant closed the door, preventing the victim from leaving, and attempted to take away her mobile phone. After that, the attacker beat the victim and threatened to kill her if the girl turned to law enforcement agencies.

“On 23rd October, 2020, She, together with two teenagers, abducted a 19-year-old resident of the city of Birobidzhan, delivering her by car to a residential building on Chapaeva Street, where a girl, a man and a teenager she knew were in the apartment.

“While holding the girl in the apartment, those present began to mock her and film what was happening on a mobile phone camera. Subsequently, the accused distributed the video on a messenger app.

“Taking into account the position of the public prosecutor, the court sentenced the 24-year-old defendant to 18 years in prison, to be served in a general regime colony.

“The other defendant was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, to be served in a general regime colony with a fine of 100 thousand rubles [GBP 1,360] with a deferred execution of punishment when her child reaches 14 years of age.

“The third defendant was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, to be served in a penal colony.

“The juvenile defendant was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, to be served in an educational colony.

“Two 18-year-old convicts were sentenced to three years and five days and four years in prison, to be served in a general regime colony.

“The verdict has not yet entered into force.”
