This is the bizarre moment a beefy OAP smacks a shopper’s pet Chihuahua on the head with a bottle of cognac in a Russian supermarket.
The brazen incident – which seriously injured pet pooch Michelle – took place in a store in Kaluga, Russia, on 1st August.
CCTV footage shows how shopper Sofia Guzova is holding her pet Chihuahua at the till when the OAP reaches over and strikes it on the head with a glass bottle.
Sofia appears shocked and angry and, after spending a moment tending to Michelle, she gives chase to the elderly woman.
The grey-haired woman later reappears in frame and returns the bottle of cognac to the supermarket shelf.
Sofia said the overweight OAP had started arguing with her in the store prior to the incident because she was unhappy she had brought her dog inside.
Police are now investigating after the poor pooch was left with a cracked skull and its condition was last reported to be badly deteriorating.
Sofia even had to seek help at a clinic in Moscow – a three-hour drive away – as vets in Kaluga were allegedly unable to help the canine.
Sofia took to social media to write: “Today – 1st August, 2022 – my dog, a Chihuahua breed, was attacked.
“The incident occurred between 11.30am and 12pm in the Magnit store in Kaluga, at 26, General Popov Street.
“At the time of the attack, the dog was in my arms. An unknown elderly woman grabbed a bottle of cognac and came up from behind and hit the dog on the head.
“The veterinarian established the presence of a craniocerebral injury, two cracks in the skull.
“A statement has been made to the police. I ask all those who are not indifferent to spread the information, possibly speeding up the review of the case, and also to help identify the attacker.”
She went on to describe the attacker as a “sadist” and ended by warning readers: “Take care of your pets.”
Sofia plans to sue the woman for moral damages and to compensate her for her pet’s veterinary treatment.
If found guilty of animal abuse, the suspect faces up to three years in prison.
