This is the spectacular moment an electric scooter starts flying, sending a little boy and his older sister toppling off the back.

Online commentators noted the footage looks as if the electric scooter is fitted with antigravity as first of all the front wheel and then the rest of the bike leaves the ground and shoots up into the air, leaving the siblings lying on the ground bruised and shocked.

The incident happened in the sub-provincial city of Chengdu in the Chinese province of Sichuan.

According to local police, a fibre-optic cable that was running from the mast above had somehow come loose and fallen on to the ground and was almost invisible as the scooter driver approached.

The cable then went under the handlebars and as the bike drove forwards it slid up the cable into the air, making it look as if the bike was flying.

The young boy who’s just missed being hit in the head by the bike has injured his knee and is lying on the ground rubbing his leg while his sister seems more concerned about her beloved electric bike which seconds later dropped back down to earth as she checks it for damage.

It is unclear if the maintenance company responsible for the fibre-optic cable will take responsibility for compensating the woman.
