Boy Found At Bus Station With 3K Stolen from Gran in His Pocket To Pay For Funfair Trip And Toys

A six-year-old boy who took 3,000 GBP from his gran for a day out was stopped after he had already visited an amusement park and was on his way to a toy shop when police spotted him at a bus stop.

The money had been saved by the gran to carry out some repairs around her flat in the Russian city of Volgograd, previously known as Stalingrad, and the little boy decided he would use it for a trip to the amusement park and to buy some toys.

He was spotted on the way from the amusement park, apparently heading to the toyshop near his home by police Lieutenant Alexander Balychev, who noticed that the six-year-old was unaccompanied as he waited for a bus from the “Skazka” (Russian amusement park) at the “Bukhantseva Street” bus station in the city’s Voroshilovsky District.

The officer noticed that the youngster had his pockets bulging with cash, and when he asked him to show him how much was there, he pulled out bundles of 5,000 ruble notes worth 50 GBP each.

The officer asked the child where his parents were and where he got the money, but the nervous boy could only manage to say his name, which was not made public.

The lieutenant decided to take the child to the police station where the money was counted and found to total RUB 275 thousand (GBP 2,672).

The youngster confirmed that he was planning to go to the toyshop to treat himself.

Further inquiries revealed that the boy lives in the Voroshilovsky District with his grandmother, two older sisters and a brother. No information was reported about the boy’s parents.

The elderly woman who takes care of the boy found out about her nephew’s mischief from the police officers who took the child home.

The police press release noted: “The boy’s grandmother said that in that morning, while she was in the kitchen, the grandson quietly took the money – RUB 275 thousand (GBP 2,672) – which the family was saving up for repairs, and left the apartment.”

Now the boy is back with the family and the employees and social workers are monitoring the situation.

Volgograd Police noted that the entire amount was returned safely to the grandmother.
