Family Huddles Around Pregnant Woman During Earthquake In China
This is the moment a family huddles around a pregnant woman during an earthquake in a Chinese city last week.
The incident took place in the city of Dali in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan during a magnitude-6 earthquake on 21st May that killed three people and left 27 injured.
In the footage, family members are seen protecting a pregnant woman during the earthquake.
The news site Baidu said the woman’s partner was not at home at the time and she was accompanied by her father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.
The pregnant woman’s partner saw the footage when he returned home and said he was moved by his family’s reaction, according to Baidu.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1 whereas the China Earthquake Administration (CEA) and China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC) measured the earthquake at 6.4.
The depth of focus was reported to be 10 kilometres by the USGS and 8 kilometres by the CEA.
Three people were reportedly killed in the Dali earthquake and 27 were left injured.
According to reports, an unrelated 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the central Chinese province of Qinghai several hours later.
