This is the heartwarming moment a nine-year-old girl carries her disabled classmate to the bathroom and then back to class smiling all the way as she carries her up a flight of stairs.

In the video, the nine-year-old student, Xiang Xiangjia, is seen carrying her classmate Zhou Huanyu around in a rural town outside Anshun, a city located in the southwestern Chinese region of Guizhou, on 14th May.

Zhou was involved in a car accident when she was a baby and as a result had her legs amputated.

The news site Baidu said that in the past Zhou’s mother would come to school every few hours to carry her daughter to the bathroom and classes.

She caught the gesture of kindness on camera when she arrived at the school to pick up her daughter and posted it online.

Zhou’s classmates and teacher have taken it upon themselves to make sure she is able to come and go around school like everyone else without her mum.

They carry her to the bathroom, class, lunch and to the playground at break time.

Local media reports that Zhou has come out of her shell since her classmate started helping her, feeling much more cheerful and comfortable at school.

The young girl’s mother thanked the students, who replied: “Helping classmates is something we should all be doing.”
