Police Dog Attacked Wrong Man Who Was Not Involved In Carjacking

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two suspects for carjacking, one of whom was attacked by dogs for resisting, although he had nothing to do with the robbery.

Police officers responded at 9.53pm to a carjacking with a firearm in the 200 block of Mountain View Avenue in Santa Rosa, California on 2nd June.

The victim informed police investigators that Rajesh Suman, 35, took his automobile the same day after he tried to sell him his black convertible Jaguar. They arranged to meet at a storage facility near Redwood Drive and Houser Street, where the Jaguar was stored since the suspect wanted to test drive it. Suman was driving a Subaru Forester when he arrived.

Hе took the Jaguar for a spin with the victim in the front passenger seat. He stopped the car and forced him out while brandishing a black handgun. When the victim got out of the car, Suman drove away.

The victim reported the crime to the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy discovered a Subaru identical to the one Suman was driving near Portal Street and Primero Court, about two blocks from the storage facility, at 10.09pm.

The deputy called for backup and conducted a high-risk criminal traffic stop on the motorist. The driver eventually stepped out of his car and opened the door.

K-9 was deployed to take him into custody since the police suspected him of being armed. The driver was bitten in the right bicep by K-9 Max, then he agreed and was brought into custody right afterwards.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital and treated before being discharged. When the victim arrived on the scene, he recognized the Subaru as belonging to the suspect. The driver of the Subaru Adam Gabriel, 40 has not been identified as being associated with the carjacking. Despite the fact that he had nothing to do with the stolen Jaguar, he was arrested for resisting arrest.

A little later, the officers managed to detain the real robber driving at high speed.

Suman, the suspect in the carjacking, was recognized by the victim as the perpetrator. He was placed into the Sonoma County Jail for Robbery of automobiles, Having a stolen vehicle in his possession, A Contra Costa County warrant for a stolen vehicle (No bail warrant) and Possession of methamphetamine (a stimulant drug).

Suman is still being held without bail.
